Africa
Water scarcity affects 1 in 3 people in the African Region
Approximately 66% of Africa is arid or semi-arid. More than 300 of the 800 million people in sub-Saharan Africa live in a water-scarce environment which means they have less than 1,000 m³ per capita per year. More than 95 % of Africa is dependent on rainfall for agriculture.
